COSS Supervisor – Rail Buildings

The Opportunity

B. & M. McHugh Ltd are looking to recruit an experienced COSS Supervisor to support the delivery of rail building and infrastructure works across the South of England.

This is a hands-on supervisory role for someone who knows how to run safe, efficient sites and can lead teams in live rail environments.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Taking responsibility as COSS on site and ensuring safe delivery of works
  • Supervising site teams on rail building / structural works
  • Planning and implementing Safe Systems of Work (SSOW)
  • Leading briefings, site inductions, and safety compliance
  • Working closely with project managers and engineers
  • Keeping works on programme and to required quality standards
  • Maintaining high standards of health, safety, and documentation

What We’re Looking For

  • Valid COSS & PTS (essential)
  • Proven experience supervising rail buildings, civils, or structures
  • Strong working knowledge of Network Rail standards
  • Confident leading teams in possession and line block environments
  • Reliable, organised, and proactive approach
  • Full UK driving licence

Desirable (but not essential)

  • SMSTS / SSSTS
  • NVQ level 3 bricklaying or equivalent maintenance qualification
  • First Aid
  • ES / SWL competencies
  • Experience working on station or lineside building projects
