Quantity Surveyor - Permanent
Location: The role will be based out of our Basingstoke office (RG21 5PL)
Overview: This is an unrivalled opportunity for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join one of the leading SME contractors in the south east of England. The role will be predominantly managing the commercial aspects of various live schemes within our existing frameworks. The varied works will cover building refurbishment, highways maintenance including assisting the delivery of various railway projects.
Role & Responsibilities: We are currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated Quantity Surveyor to join our team. As a Quantity Surveyor, you will play a crucial role in managing and controlling costs throughout the construction project lifecycle. Your responsibilities will include estimating, budgeting, cost planning, procurement, and contract administration.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist in developing and maintaining project budgets, ensuring cost control throughout
• Review and comment on the latest programmes while providing accurate forecasts
• Compile, Review and Submit periodic applications to the client
• Evaluate and negotiate applications and contracts with suppliers
• Monitor and manage variations, valuations, and final accounts for both the client and suppliers.
• Collaborate with project teams to provide cost advice and feasibility assessments
• Conduct regular site visits and inspections to monitor progress and ensure compliance with specifications and regulations
• Prepare and submit progress reports, financial statements, and other documentation as required.
• Review and management of risk and opportunity within the project
• Interface with the client and regular engagement with the commercial counterpart
Candidate Profile: It is envisaged that the successful candidate will ideally have the following:
• Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field
• Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor, ideally within the construction industry over a period of 5 years
• Ideally, previous experience of working in Building refurbishments, Rail and Highways sectors
• Strong analytical and numerical skills with attention to detail
• Excellent communication and negotiation abilities
• Knowledge of construction contracts, regulations, and legal requirements
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
• Strong IT skills and ability to use Microsoft packages with good report writing skills
• Self-driven and results-oriented individual with a positive outlook
