We are pleased to announce that B&M McHugh has successfully been reaccredited with the Fleet Operators Recognition Scheme (FORS) Bronze award for another year.

FORS is a voluntary nationally recognised accreditation scheme for fleet operators which aims to raise the standard within fleet operations. FORS monitors performance which enables companies to alter their operations such as fleet safety, efficiency and environmental impact to demonstrate best practices.

The FORS bronze accreditation confirms that B&M McHugh employ good practice and comply with the requirements laid out by the FORS Standard, with the accreditation showing our continued commitment to the industry.

We once again had the privilege of volunteering at The Felix Project in Poplar, an incredible organisation dedicated to combating food poverty and food wastage. They rescue surplus food from supermarkets, restaurants, hotels, wholesalers, and other food suppliers and distribute it to charities, schools and community groups that support vulnerable individuals.

At B&M McHugh, one of our core values is service, and the desire to give back is deeply embedded in our culture. We encourage our valuable employees to use their time and talents to support charitable organisation's throughout the year. However, October holds a special place as we profile a wide variety of planned events for teams to collaborate while also empowering employees to engage in charitable work of their own choice.

A thoroughly thought-provoking and informative lunch and learn event with our colleagues from Welfare Hire yesterday. With sustainability and the environment key priorities, we were all super impressed by the range of features and benefits offered.

One of our recent projects at Danson Mansion House - grade 2 listed period property used as a registry office for Kent and Bexley.

Our specialist team installed an access hatch to enable access to a faulty fan coil unit beneath floorboards in the ceremony room. This was a multi- discipline project, working in accordance with strict Heritage England guidance.

The existing floor covering was removed and we adapted the non-original floorboards. We then replaced with a flush access hatch, and adapted the heritage carpet to allow repair to the faulty fan. This operation also ensured future access to service the unit.

All finished with brass angle beading to match existing grilles. Great work team!

What a thoroughly rewarding day at Beths Grammar School in Bexley at their Careers Fair! Some extremely engaged students with a real passion for engineering who we're sure will develop into amazing Engineers.

Was particularly interesting to hear how many were looking at the degree apprenticeship route, rather than the usual University degrees. Challenging, engaging and keen to listen, it was so refreshing to speak with the many brilliant young stars of the future.

Special thanks to Dave Mervin and Louis Franklin-Smith for coming along, I'm sure you converted a lot of students to future Engineers with your passionate speeches and advice!

Following an extensive assessment process, we’re delighted to announce that we’re now officially accredited by the National Inspection Council for Electrical Installation Contracting (NICEIC), one of the leading regulatory bodies for the electrical contracting industry.

The NICEIC Approved Contractor Scheme is aimed at electrical contractors undertaking design, installation, commissioning and maintenance of electrical installations to BS 7671 standards. To become accredited, we successfully met a number of stringent organisational and procedural requirements, before undertaking a comprehensive onsite assessment by an NICEIC engineer.

This accreditation means that we’re able to effectively develop our electrical services portfolio through best practice and industry-leading techniques, complementing our range of fire and security services.

B&M McHugh recently volunteered with The Felix Project charity in their main Poplar warehouse and distribution centre. The Felix Project is an incredible initiative to reduce food waste and food poverty, redistributing food to those that need it the most.

While there are many provisions in place to reduce food waste, the UK produces the highest amount of food waste in Europe. The UK throws away around 9.5 million tonnes of food waste in a single year – even though 8.4 million people in the UK are in food poverty. Over ⅓ of all food produced globally goes to waste.

Considering the current UK economy, this is a particularly important time to help out where we can. We thoroughly recommend volunteering with The Felix Project to any individuals or organisations that are looking for opportunities to stand up for those that may be struggling right now.
